The island of Vis
“The island of Vis is as beautiful as Capri without the crowds” and is also referred to as “The Adriatic jewel”
We are inviting you to visit the island of Vis - a special place in the hearts of many Croatians, as well as those regular visitors who have discovered the last of inhabited Croatian islands opposite the Italian coastline.
Closed to foreigners until 1989 due to the presence of a Yugoslav naval base, the island was spared the commercial brand of tourism that flourished along much of the Adriatic sea during the 1970’s. Today, Vis is rapidly developing into a discreet but rather upmarket destination.
Our newly built house (3 apartments) in a quiet village of Rukovac is one of the most attractive tourist destinations on the island renowned for its exquisite location and comfortable accommodations.
Situated 10 km from the main port of Vis but with poor bus connections, your means of transport are required because of poor bus connections. However, bread is delivered every morning as well as fruits and vegetables. It is ideal for a peaceful holiday, while you can enjoy swimming, snorkelling, diving in the crystal-clear blue waters or simply sitting on the terrace, enjoying a glass of local wine and admiring the Srebrena Beach.
Srebrena Beach (Silver Beach) is situated 5-10 minutes from our house. The Beach is especially beautiful with white pebbles and many people say that it is one of the most amazing beaches on the Adriatic.
If this is not enough for you, on the island Ravnik (15 min by boat) there is an amazing Green Cave that is indeed very worth to visit.
And then, the famous Blue Cave on the island of Bisevo will leave you speechless. Some 5 km from Komiza
the cave is often compared to the Blue Cave on Capri, Italy. You can visit the cave as part of an organized
day trip from Komiza. The best time to visit the cave is form 11 a.m. to noon, as the sunlight at that time
creates the most beautiful effects, producing silver, gold and violet colours.
Not far from our villa, there is a marina where you can rent a small boat to explore the peaceful bays of the island.
